It’s 3AM and we’re super excited about attending this year’s FinCon. Hour long commute to Reagan Airport so need to pick up the pace to not have to run to catch our flight, lol. Have a bunch of thoughts to share when I have some moments at their airport.
Those moments to share, they were fleeting. Mrs. PersonalFinanceWorks was tired and easily fell asleep on the Virgin America plane. I was trying to figure out how to set up the FinCon app on the phone and gave up easily. Virgin America only provides free WiFi to T-Mobile customers and everyone else has to pay the $19 for the GoGo WiFi access. I passed on it and napped the rest of the plane ride.
We landed without any problems and realized how easy it was retrieve our luggage from baggage claim and to maneuver through the airport to get to the car rental shuttle. We finally make it to the Budget car rental off-site location only to realize I had booked our rental car at the Budget off-site at Dallas Forth Worth (DFW) airport. Of course, Dallas Love Field (DAL) were sold out of rental cars. Off we go back to the airport to take an expensive ($45) SUV to the DFW airport, which was only 15-20 minutes away.
Finally made it to the AC Hotel which apparently just opened only two weeks ago. I will have a detailed write-up on my stay there that will be infinitely better than any review on TripAdvisor or Yelp that you will find. Needless to say, I drew the ire of Mrs. PersonalFinanceWorks as I was darting out under the cover of darkness to take pictures or interview the valet guys or front desk staff.
Today was the first full day of FinCon17. Man, I knew that there was going to be 2,000 people there but could not have imangined seeing 2,000+ people at the Sheraton Convention Center.
